Description

Ty'n-y-waun farmhouse is a two-storey building constructed from Pennant sandstone and rendered, topped with a concrete tiled roof. It features a three-unit plan, with the main entrance located on the south side within a stone-built porch, opposite the staircase and at the lower end of the living hall. There is also a rear entrance, which is a part-glazed door leading to the service area. The farmhouse has sash windows.

Inside, the central living hall has three ceiling bays and features a deep chamfered cross beam with cut stops, along with an axial stack that is said to have a side oven. This area is now furnished with a late 19th-century fireplace and surround. A timber partition separates the upper parlour, which includes a gable stack and a fine painted slate fireplace from the late 19th century. The stone winding staircase in the north stair tower leads to the upper floor, which is divided by trusses into four bays and two narrower bays at the service end. The collar beam trusses have their principals seated in the walls, although the details are covered up.
