Description
Tafolog Farmhouse is a two-storey building constructed from red sandstone rubble with a concrete tile roof designed to resemble stone tiles. The farmhouse features a long three-unit range with a small wing that projects from the rear of the left-hand room. The entrance front displays a gable, a door, another gable, and a window. The gables are fitted with metal Llanthony Estate windows set under timber lintels, with 6 X 4 panes below and 4 X 3 panes above in the gable. The door is partially glazed and located in the cross-passage position behind the hall stack. The inner room to the right has a smaller window and an addition on the gable. There is a central hall stack and a left gable stack, with the left gable featuring a small modern window positioned above a larger one. The rear elevation was not visible during the resurvey in June 1997.
The interior was also not accessible for inspection at the time of the resurvey. However, it is noted to contain a pointed chamfered stone arch, a stone spiral staircase, and a wood cruck truss. Peter Smith records that the farmhouse has a cross-passage entry behind the stack and suggests that it likely features an open hall that was floored and improved in the 17th century.
