Description
The barn at The Vision Farm is a 17th-century structure built from thinly coursed red and grey sandstone rubble, topped with a roof made of stone tiles and corrugated metal sheeting. It features central opposed threshing doors and slit vents on either side, while part of the rear is obscured by a later lean-to addition. The gable end has slit vents for the hayloft above the cowhouse, which includes two doorways and a small central window.
This five-bay barn has a central threshing floor and a cowhouse at the lower end, with a tallet above. It is supported by four principal rafter trusses, which include raking struts and three tiers of purlins. Most of the roof timbers are original. Notably, the tie beam of the left-hand truss inside the door is intricately carved in relief with the initials B D and the year 1702, suggesting that this may be the date of construction.
