Description
The Monastery is a Grade II listed building constructed mainly of stone and features two storeys with roofs made of slate, tile, and corrugated asbestos. It exhibits a Freestyle early medieval style, with windows that have both pointed and square heads, some being chamfered and others plain. The northwest porch includes an ashlar buttress and a corbelled-out upper floor.
Inside, the refectory has ceiling beams supported on corbels. There is a room that served as a temporary chapel from 1924 to 1925, which later became the studio of Eric Gill. This room features a mural of the crucifixion by David Jones, and there are inscriptions on the beams that may also be by Jones.
