Description

The Post Office is a building constructed from brindled brick with Bath stone dressings, standing on a low granite plinth, and topped with a slate roof. The main façade is symmetrical, featuring five bays that rise to three bays at the first floor level, culminating in an unmoulded pediment-gable. The central entrance is highlighted by a pilastered and pedimented doorcase, which includes a narrow overlight and panelled doors. Flanking the entrance are 20-pane sash windows, each adorned with a pronounced stone keystone set in a flat brick arch, while above, there are three similar 16-pane sash windows. To the left of the façade, there are brick piers with iron gates that provide access to the rear yard.
