Description
The structure consists of the abutments to an overbridge and loading bay on the former Duffryn Llynvi and Porthcawl Railway. The tramway features a standard 5-meter wide reservation, laid out to follow the 90-meter contour and winding through Coed Tondu, with three sharp bends. The flank walls of the former overbridge, which forms the loading bay, are made up of two 3.0-meter high rubble walls on either side of the track. These walls are flattened at the top to support transverse rails, which are now missing, that would have carried trucks coming directly from the drift mine located approximately 19 meters to the west. Originally, laden trucks emerging from the pit would discharge directly through front or back openings into the trucks of the Duffryn Llynvi and Porthcawl tramway below.
