Description
The former Truck Shop at Tondu Ironworks, now known as Foxtroy Residential Home, is a building constructed from coursed ironstone rubble with notable tooled ashlar dressings. It features a Welsh slate roof with overhanging eaves and decorative bargeboards, stone stacks at the front, and yellow brick at the rear, complemented by blue brick ridge tiles. The building has a central main frontage with seven bays, designed in a double pile layout, flanked by two gabled wings that project forward at each end. These wings have a side elevation of three bays, leading to a single bay cross wing at the rear left and a cross gable at the rear right.
The main frontage displays a continuous voussoir band across the range of windows on each storey. The original 6/6 pane sash windows have been replaced, although the glazing pattern has been retained. Each bay features a giant recessed round-headed arch made of ashlar and rubble, within which are round-headed multi-pane windows at the first floor level, also with replaced glazing, while the ground floor windows are square-headed. The left bay appears unaltered, while the right bay previously had double doors; the central door on the main frontage is a later addition. The side windows are accented with tooled voussoirs.
The interior has been converted into a residential nursing home.
