Description
Park Cottage is a small cottage built from ironstone rubble, featuring stone and brick dressings. It has a Welsh slate roof with blue brick ridge tiles and yellow brick stacks on the left and right. The cottage is two storeys high and is attached to number 27 at the rear. There is also a single storey lean-to wing added to the right. Originally, it was a two up/two down cottage with a central door, but the doorway and right window have since switched places.
On the first floor, there are two small 3/3 pane casement windows with segmental arched heads, supported by stone springers and keystones, and surrounded by brick, positioned directly under the eaves. The ground floor windows are similar in style but consist of 3/3 pane horned sashes. The half hipped single storey wing on the right side is mostly made of yellow brick and features three 3/3 horned sash windows under segmental brick arches, along with a similar doorway on the side.
Outside, there is a separate wash-house and coal shed, which is square in shape and constructed of red brick with a pyramidal slate roof. The interior of the cottage was likely remodeled when the side wing was built in the later 19th century. It now includes a staircase against the rear wall that leads to the first floor rooms, which have boarded doors, window seats, and partially exposed staggered purlins.
