Gateway to Talbot Memorial Park

The gateway to Talbot Memorial Park is a triple-arched structure made of pale ashlar stone. It features a wide central Tudor arch with reeded moulding, flanked by two narrow pointed arches that also have similar mouldings. The spandrels and areas above the arches are made up of large voussoirs. There are pilasters between the arches and at the corners, which include recessed lancets and polygonal mouldings along the edges. A cornice runs across the top in a matching style and displays the inscription 'Talbot 19 Memorial 25 Park'. Above the central arch, there is a raised frieze adorned with recessed quatrefoils within circles, moulded coping, and flanking octagonal pinnacles that have advanced lancets on all four sides. The metal gates to the arches feature alternating plain and twisted uprights, culminating in tall fleur-de-lis finials and smaller wave finials. The gates also have arched heads beneath the top rails, with a lock bar decorated with scrolls and three-leaf motifs. The walls of the gateway extend northward, each featuring a narrow pointed arch that connects to two identical lodges. Low rock-faced walls topped with metal railings extend outward from the front corners of the entrance, ending in dressed octagonal piers with pinnacles that match those on the frieze above the cornice.
