Description
Jerusalem Chapel is a classical style chapel built from snecked, rock-faced sandstone with a slate roof. The front features a three-bay gable end with round-headed sash windows in the outer bays. In the center, there are double panelled doors topped by a round-headed overlight containing late 19th-century coloured glass. Above these doors, the central bay has triple round-headed sash windows. The gable is pedimented, with a soffit that includes a billet frieze and a keyed oculus, which has vents above an inset tablet that displays the building's date in engraved letters.
On the right side, there is a wall that runs at a right angle, featuring cast iron gates and a wrought-iron overthrow marked with the date 1863, likely taken from another location. The right side wall is pebble dashed and has a hornless sash window that is offset to the left in both tiers, along with a later one-storey projection to the right. The rear wall has a central lean-to flanked by tall round-headed windows and a segmental-headed sash window located in the lower left. The left side wall has two segmental-headed hornless sash windows. The chapel was inaccessible during the inspection in September 1999.
