Description

The Forge tramroad bridge at Neath Abbey Ironworks is a Grade II listed structure. It features a bridge over a weir, constructed from rubble stone. The eastern side has a broad segmental arch, while the western side has a single narrow segmental arch. The downstream side of the bridge showcases arches with tooled stone voussoirs, separated by a low pier made of tooled squared stone. There is no parapet on this side. The upstream side has an altered parapet, with surviving copings made of ogee-curved cast metal slag. Beneath the arches, there is a stone-cobbled slope, and the broader arch has a splayed abutment.
