Description

This is an ornate cast iron milepost located near Old Park, dating from 1841. It is painted white with black lettering and detail. The milepost has a square base that supports a rear upright featuring a pointed arched head with mouldings, imposts, and a keystone. In front of the base, there is a low domed section with a round-headed front face. Above this, two tall faces with pointed arched heads are set at a 45-degree angle, and the arches have raised mouldings.

The rear arch displays the inscription 'Bridgend District'. The angled faces point in opposite directions, with one indicating 'To Pyle 2' and the other 'To Neath 10'. Beneath the round arch, the lettering reads 'London 185'. The square base has a raised border that features 'Margam Parish' in relief.
