Garden Wall at Twyn yr Hydd

The garden wall at Twyn yr Hydd is a Grade II listed structure that connects to the right side of the left gable of the main house. It runs north, then curves west and south for a short distance, offering open views of the surrounding parkland. The wall is made of very narrow sandstone blocks laid dry, featuring quoins at the openings and where the angles change. It is wide at the base, tapering towards the top, with offsets covered in stone tiles and a pronounced pitched coping also laid with stone tiles.

There are segmental-headed doorways in the wall, with the coping rising above them. At the south end of the eastern section of the wall, there is a doorway with an iron gate that has decorative scroll-work. From this point, the wall curves slightly east before continuing north, where there is a wide recessed bay designed for a garden seat, featuring a horizontal window at the back with partial remains of iron tracery.

The northern section of the wall includes a centrally located doorway within a wide shallow recess, flanked by horizontal windows and featuring another iron gate. In front of this gate is a circular stone-lined pool surrounded by a wide band of paving. Further west, at the northwest corner of the garden, there is a round projection resembling an angle bastion, likely intended for seating. The wall continues south for a short distance before sloping down to an end pier capped with a pyramidal top.
