Description
The dock walls and gate are located at the junction between the inner dock and outer basin at Briton Ferry Docks. They are constructed from snecked rock-faced sandstone and feature large dressed coping stones. On the west side of the basin, the walls create a large square quay that measures approximately 70 meters by 80 meters, walled on three sides with a rounded southeast corner and a rounded bastion at the northeast corner. The opposite quay is narrower, measuring about 50 meters by 15 meters. The dock walls are reinforced with additional concrete in the channel between the basins. The lock gate is reported to still exist in part, although it was not visible during the inspection.
