Description
The former steam power house at Briton Ferry Docks is a single-storey building featuring twin gables. It has a north parallel range that is stepped back and includes a lower flat-roofed extension on the north side. The structure is built from rock-faced, coursed masonry, with dressed quoins and voussoirs around the blocked openings. The gable parapets have flat ashlar cappings that are stepped forward over the doors to the north range. The north extension has snecked masonry and a dressed plinth course. Although the original roof coverings have been removed, the pitched roof of the north parallel range is now covered with corrugated iron. Both ranges have triple arched openings that are blocked and face the main railway lines. The north range features impost blocks with voussoir surrounds, and the larger openings on the west side are covered by sliding metal doors.
