Description
The former stables at The Poplars are a single-storey structure with an attic in the west wing, built from a mix of yellow and red brick, topped with a slate roof and clay ridge tiles. The building features brick stacks and timber transom windows, which have red brick heads and stone cills. It has deep overhanging eaves with moulded purlin ends and is arranged in an L-shaped plan, facing an enclosed cobbled yard on the northeast side.
Access to the stables is provided by a wide double doorway with sliding timber doors located in the north elevation of the south wing. The west wing includes a central window and a gabled hayloft door above, along with a side door. The north elevation has a pair of windows on the ground floor and a shorter central window above. There are two openings in the west elevation and a pair of windows on the east elevation.
Inside the south wing, the west wing retains loose boxes with original fittings, a tack room (not inspected), and a hay loft on the first floor.
