Description
The National Westminster Bank is a three-storey building with a three-bay Portland stone frontage, featuring a set-back top storey and a giant Ionic portico in antis. It has a balustraded parapet and a moulded eaves cornice, along with a main entablature that includes a dentil and egg-and-dart cornice, topped with a modern signboard on the frieze. The windows are linked metal-framed units with infill panels in the recessed centre, a cutaway cill, and small-pane upper glazing throughout. There are matching outer doorways with arched and traceried fanlights above consoled cornices, leading to double six-panel doors.
Inside, the bank features a simple classical banking hall with a coffered ceiling, pilasters, rosettes at the springers, and arched doorways.
