Description

The Swansea County Court and Offices is a two-storey building with attics, constructed of red brick and featuring Bath stone dressings, including decorative banding. It has a slate roof with a ridge stack on the right and a front stack positioned at a splayed angle to the left. The building showcases a moulded corbel adorned with an elaborate cartouche, diagonal pilasters, volute supports, and a moulded cornice.

The attic storey is set behind a parapet and features stone window frames. The north front has five bays with a stone cornice at the parapet. The central bay is bowed and includes a three-light mullioned upper window beneath the cornice, with small pane glazing. Above the arched hood of the bowed entrance, there is a carved representation of the Royal arms "ERVII" in an ashlar field. The entrance is flanked by foliage corbels, an egg-and-dart cornice, and a convex architrave, with double recessed doors below an inscribed tympanum. The side bays contain cross windows on the upper floor and three-light windows on the ground floor, all featuring cornices, impost bands, and moulded cills.

Additionally, there is a three-storey, two-window elevation facing Princess Way, which includes a parapeted gable and a segmental pediment at the top. A smaller corbelled chimney stack on the left is supported by a carved angel. The windows on this elevation are two and three-light, similar to those on the north front, with a horizontal linkage on the top floor. To the left, there is a simpler extension that includes a doorway accessed by steps.
