Description

The cenotaph, which includes surrounding walls, is situated on a stepped base and is made of Portland stone. The central structure features a stylized tomb-chest, with bronze low relief wreaths on the narrow sides displaying the dates '1914-1918' and '1939-1945'. On the broad side facing the sea, there is a bronze relief of an anchor within a wreath, while the side facing land displays the Swansea arms, accompanied by the inscription 'Pro Deo Rege et Patria'.

The cenotaph is enclosed by an octagonal wall that has four entrances. The outer faces of the wall are constructed from grey stone and include flower beds, while the inner faces, copings, and entrance piers are made of Portland stone. The entrance piers feature fasces at the angles and curved buttresses on the outer faces, with steps leading down to the paved floor of the precinct. The inner faces of the wall are adorned with bronze plaques listing the names of the fallen, as well as stones that commemorate the foundation and unveiling of the cenotaph.
