Description
Brynmill Lodge at Singleton Park is a large three-storey lodge located to the right of an arched gateway, with a screen wall that steps down to the left and lower ranges at the rear. The building is constructed of snecked rubble with pale freestone dressings, which include window surrounds and gable parapets. It features tiled roofs and stone chimney stacks, along with diamond leaded windows.
The three-storey corner block has gables on each side, topped with broken finials. The main elevation showcases twinned cusped lancets on the first and second floors, and a pointed arch on the first floor. The ground floor has two windows, and an inventive porters window steps up to the left, featuring a projecting oriel supported by curved ovolo moulded brackets and topped with a conical spire that has Gothic lucarnes.
To the left, there is a two-order pointed arched gateway with a stiletto label that has regal head stops, and modern gates. The pitched parapet above features gables over blind shields. The northeast side of the corner block has a full-height chimney breast, and there is a single-storey plus attic range beyond that has three cusped lancets grouped under a gable, with non-structural buttresses below that contain narrow windows on each side. The screen wall continues to step down to meet the main park boundary wall.
On the southwest side of the lodge, there are stepped narrow lancets and a pointed arch doorway that opens onto the gateway wall walk, along with two cross frame windows on the ground floor (one with a pointed arch head) next to the main entrance. A single-storey range extends back to the northwest and has been later extended with a monopitch roof.
