Description
This building, located at 14 Lion Street, is a shop with living accommodation above, dating from the early 19th century. It features a stucco exterior and a hipped slate roof with deep eaves. The structure has two storeys plus an attic, with a two-window elevation facing Lion Street. The ground floor is stuccoed, while the upper floor has pebbledashed cladding.
On the upper floor, there is a dormer containing a 12-pane sash window on the left and a blocked window on the right. The ground floor features a round-headed doorway with a blocked tympanum to the left, leading to a six-panelled door. There is an early 20th-century shop front on the right-hand side, which wraps around the corner. The return elevation has three windows, with small-pane sashes on the first floor and one on the ground floor to the right. A round-headed central doorway is set in arcading, topped by a semi-circular fanlight with tracery and a six-panelled door.
The rear elevation includes a dormer with a four-pane sash window on the first floor and a small-pane window on the ground floor. This is flanked by a gabled porch on the left, which has a four-panelled door, and a plain doorway on the right.
Inside, there is a good early 19th-century staircase and chimney pieces.
