Description

The barn at Cartref is a Grade II listed structure built from rubble stone, featuring a central cart passage and a roof made of corrugated asbestos-cement. The cart passage includes full-height doorways that are fitted with double boarded doors and strap hinges. On the west side, the doorway is flanked by tall, narrow breathers, while the north gable end has triangular breathers. The east side has a later outshut that contains calf cots and has two stable doors in its side wall. Additionally, there is a 20th-century lean-to on the south gable end.

Inside, the passage is laid with flagstones, and the roof trusses are constructed with tie and tenoned collar beams.
