Description
Penawr Bridge, also known as Canal Bridge No. 151, is a hump-back bridge constructed of rubble sandstone. It features a segmental arch made with thin voussoirs and has a low parapet with flat coping. The abutments curve outward on both sides, and the parapet is adorned with square end piers. On the eastern side, there is a cast iron plaque displaying the bridge number in relief at the keystone position. A towpath runs under the bridge on the northern side, which includes a stone kerb, while on the southern side, there is a stringcourse that is roughly at water level.
The bridge supports a field track. The painted number 13 on the upstream keystone is the most visible remnant of the original numbering sequence that began from Brecon. Additionally, there are two posts from former lozenge-shaped cast iron weight restriction signs.
