Description
5 Lower Cross Oak Cottages is a cottage located on the wing facing the canal, next to the larger main range at a right angle. It is constructed of rendered colourwashed stone and features a stone tile roof with overhanging eaves, a corniced ridge, and axial stacks made of coursed stone. The cottage is single storey with an attic on the right side (formerly number 5) and has two windows that consist of segmental arched metal-framed latticed casements with tooled sills for both the dormers and the ground floor. There is a similarly arched central doorway that has a stable-type boarded door. On the left side (formerly number 6), the far end of the cross range presents a two-storey cross-gabled street frontage with an entrance on the left-hand side and a similar single window range on the street elevation. The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey on 23rd October 1997.
