Description
Greenhill is a gentleman's house featuring a three-bay main unit and a gabled cross wing. The building is constructed of snecked rock-faced stone, with parts colourwashed and roughcast, and has a Welsh slate roof with overhanging eaves and narrow, long end ridge stacks. It stands two storeys high with an attic. The main facade has a three-window range of 3/3 pane horned sashes, which are adorned with rock-faced voussoirs, keystones, and tooled sills. There are larger tripartite windows on the ground floor flanking a central doorway that features a five-panelled door and a rectangular overlight, all set on a plinth.
The cross wing, which steps forward to the left, has a tripartite window on the ground floor, with alterations above and to the sides, as well as an attic window. The space between the wings is filled by a glazed cast-iron verandah that has curved ribs, slender columns, and decorative canopy work, along with a terrazzo floor.
Inside, the main bay opens into a hallway that leads to a large hall on the left, which features two basket arches supported by grooved columns. The staircase, with a wreathed handrail, rises at the rear. The room to the right includes a fireplace with Adam style decoration and a basket-arched alcove at the rear. The interior retains contemporary fittings, including four-panelled doors and shutters. The property also has a range of cellars, including a pig salting room, as well as a kitchen and dairy at the rear.
