Description
Mowfield Cottage is a Georgian-style, two-storey cottage built from whitewashed rubble stone. It features a slate roof with end stone stacks, which are later modifications. The front elevation has three windows, slightly offset to the right, with 12-pane hornless sash windows. The centrally-placed entrance consists of a six-panel door topped with a three-pane overlight. The rear elevation has two windows similar to the front, except for a modern casement window on the lower left, and a modern glazed door with a three-pane overlight. To the right of the door, there are stone steps leading to a cellar with a planked door.
Beneath the eaves, there is a centrally-placed stone roundel that is dated and inscribed, featuring a painted border in a square recess. This roundel was likely moved from the north gable end when the adjoining Ty Dyffryn was constructed. A lean-to has been added against the right gable end, which includes a boarded stable door and a squat stone stack at the front, while the side and rear openings are modern. The cottage is reported to retain panelled shutters on the windows, although it was not inspected at the time of the resurvey.
