Description
The Torpantau tunnel features a semi-circular arched portal made of coursed rock-faced stone. The portal is distinguished by prominent rock-faced voussoirs with diamond-shaped ends and dressed tooled edges, resembling quoins. It includes a rock-faced string, angled end piers, and large rock-faced coping blocks. Inside the tunnel portal, the sides consist of giant rock-faced stone blocks up to the impost level, with tooled stone above. The interior has coursed rubble vaults, with some brick further inside the tunnel, which is then cut directly into rock.
