Description
The barn at Abercynafon is a five-bay structure built of stone rubble, originally featuring a Welsh slate roof. It includes a separate stable bay at one end. The barn has two long ventilation slits on each side of the double boarded opposing doors, with the inner side having a hood. There are high slits under the eaves leading to the end bay, which was formerly a loft, as well as a small round-arched opening below and a door with a stone lintel.
Inside, the barn has pegged collar and tie roof trusses and three rows of trenched purlins. The remains of a threshing floor can be seen, with sharp arises to the ventilation slits that have timber lintels across each pair. Small ventilators are present at the gable end. The stable in the end bay has three bays with mangers still in place, and there are voussoirs above the cambered arched opening.
