Description
Cilmaenllwyd is a two-storey house built of stone with a slate roof. The front, facing southwest, features three window openings that have been enlarged and two added buttresses. There is a large stone chimney on the right and two smaller chimneys. At the rear, there is a two-storey gabled cross wing with a roof that sweeps down over additions, including a window on each floor and a small window in an addition to the right. A later small porch is positioned over the doorway on the left. To the right of this, the walling is slightly set back, featuring a small ground floor window, two upper floor windows, and a single doorway on the ground floor.
Inside, the main room has heavy chamfered beams, with some joists displaying reeded decoration and a large fireplace with a curved bressumer. In an adjacent room, one of the beams has a broach stop, and the joists also have reeded decoration. There is a later wooden stair in the room beyond. On the upper floor, there are three collar-and-tie-beam roof trusses with raking struts, and to the northwest, two tie-beam trusses with curved collars.
In the cross wing, the parlour features chamfered joists with hollow stops. Above, in the chamber, there is an open roof with two arched trusses. The window retains a wooden lintel with recesses for diamond mullions, and part of a transom and one visible mullion can be seen.
