Description
37 Free Street, also known as the Markets Tavern Hotel, is a public house that features a street front of three storeys with six windows. The building has a slate hipped roof with slightly projecting eaves. The exterior is constructed from stone rubble laid in courses, with stone lintels and sills above the door and window openings. The windows are four-pane horned sash types, while the ground floor has tripartite sash windows at each end. The entrance to the pub is located in the third bay from the left and includes a doorway with pilasters and an entablature, along with a half-glazed door that has a rectangular overlight above it. To the left of this entrance is a former doorway that also features a rectangular overlight. The right side of the building has a four-window return, and both this side and the rear of the building have yellow-brick dressings.
