Description
The Clock Tower is a tall square structure built in the High Victorian Gothic style. It features chamfered angles and is constructed from rubble with some freestone dressings. The tower has a pyramidal slate roof that is divided into two stages and includes an open bellcote topped with a weathervane, as well as pyramidal roof lucarnes on each face. The eaves are moulded and have machicolations. Each side of the tower displays round clock faces set within pointed arched frames, which are accented by linked hoodmoulds and a stringcourse. Scalloped corbels are positioned at the angles, with three trefoils between them, and there are two arrowslits on each face. A heraldic band with set-offs runs below, complemented by diagonal buttresses featuring punched treefoil gablets. The north and south sides have double cusped arched openings with hood mouldings and nook shafts, while the south side has blocked boarded double doors, and the north side retains the entrance.
