Description

The walled garden and sheds located north of Buckland Farm date back to the 19th century. The structure consists of four stretches of walling that create a rectangular enclosure, with a range of potting, storage, and cart sheds built against the outer face of the northern wall. The walls are constructed of stone and brick, with the approach wall featuring an outer skin of brick and an inner skin of stone, topped with flat stone coping.

There are wide basket-arched entrances in the center of the eastern, western, and southern walls, which have rough voussoirs and a keystone, flanked by stone buttresses with offsets. A small pedestrian doorway in the northern wall has a bell above it. The northern wall is made of stone, and the single-storey sheds, which have single-pitch Welsh slate roofs, extend the entire length of the outside of this wall. Former interior buildings have been demolished.

The openings feature tooled stone dressings, with windows that are 9-pane hoppers set in reveals and stone lintels, and there are boarded doors. In the center right, there is a three-bay cart shed supported by chamfered wooden posts on stone plinths, with tall chimneys at either end. The area includes cobbled aprons and stone piers at the entrance to the yard.
