Description
Berthlwyd is a farmhouse constructed from colourwashed rubble stone with slate roofs and whitewashed stone end stacks. It is a two-storey building featuring a three-window range of hornless sashes that have cambered heads, stone voussoirs, and stone sills. The central door is located within a large colourwashed stone porch, which also has a cambered head above the entry. The door itself is a 9-panel design, also with a similar cambered head.
To the right, there is an added service range that is whitewashed and has a whitewashed stone right end stack. This range includes a horned 4-pane sash window above a pair of cambered-headed casements to the left and a cambered-headed door in the centre. The ground floor openings have brick heads.
At the rear of the house, there is one small window on each floor to the right and one small window on the first floor to the left, all featuring cambered heads. The service wing extends to the rear with a long roof.
Inside, the farmhouse has a simple layout. The kitchen has stone flags and two beams, while the dairy behind it features stone flags and low slate shelves. The main house has a two-room plan with an enclosed stair from the principal room, which includes a renewed oak lintel over the fireplace, two oak beams—one of which is chamfered and stopped—and hooks in the ceiling. There is a six-panel door leading to the parlour at the left end.
