Description
This building at 2 Tower Street is a group of two-storey structures featuring two-window designs, with the exception of Nos 1 and 8. The frontages are a mix of stucco and roughcast, while the first floors of Nos 2 and 3 are whitewashed plaster. Nos 4, 7, and 9 are designed as advanced pavilions, with No 4 at the center highlighted by a pedimented cross-gable. The buildings have cill bands and plinths, and No 7 features an end pilaster strip. The roofs are slate with boarded eaves, and there are three cement render and two brick chimney stacks.
Recessed 12-pane sash windows are present throughout, except for the ground floor left window of No 2. The south front of No 49 has lugged architraves, and No 1 has a one-window front. The entrance to No 3 has been altered, with a sash window now in the former arched doorway recess. The other fronts feature arched entrances of two orders with keystones, particularly at Nos 4 to 7. Nos 1 to 3 and 7 have four-panel doors, while No 4 includes a five-pane fanlight. No 7 has a one-window front that wraps around a chamfered corner, leading to the similar but three-window dry dash front of No 8. The ground floor of No 49 is accentuated by deep pilasters and a large shop window.
