Description
Pont Cwmmawr-du is a single-carriageway, single-span bridge made of rubble stone, dating from 1838. It features a segmental arch that is slightly recessed from the abutments, with narrow freestone voussoirs. The bridge has a simple parapet topped with saddleback coping, which has been replaced with concrete. On the upstream parapet, there is a stone tablet that reads, "This bridge built by the expence of T.H. Jones Esq Neuadd Fawr AD 1838." The parapets are splayed out at the ends, supported by corbelled stonework on the left (east) bank on the upstream side. On the right (west) bank, the abutment curves out on the upstream side, while on the left bank, the abutment curves out on the downstream side.
