Description

The limekiln, located to the south-east of Castle Quarry, is a Grade II listed structure built in irregularly coursed limestone. It has a diameter of approximately 10 meters and stands about 5 meters tall, positioned on higher ground away from the road. The kiln features two access archways that are nearly opposite each other, each with neat segmental vaults spanning about 2.5 meters, constructed from rubble stonework. There are low working openings leading to the bowl of the kiln. The stonework around the west-facing access archway is deteriorating, with some sections lost, including the face ring of the arch.
