Description

This is a three-bay, three-storey town house, now used as a shop with accommodation above. It dates to the 18th century, with later alterations. The front is faced with painted stucco and has a deep, eaved slate gabled roof. A large brick stack has been rebuilt at the left end. The upper floors have twelve-pane horned sash windows, with the first-floor windows being slightly longer. A 20th-century shopfront occupies the left and centre of the ground floor, with a separate entrance to the upper flats on the right. The shopfront continues around the left-end gable towards Nott Square. The left-end gable features a twelve-pane window on each upper floor. Older photographs indicate a former attic light was present. The rear elevation includes a twelve-pane stair-light on the left and a six-pane attic light. The ground floor has been altered, and the staircase rises in four flights with a closed-panelled string and a panelled balustrade, likely dating from the early 20th century.
