Description
The former barn and stable at Dolau Uchaf is a limewashed rubble-stone farm building dating from the 19th century, covered by a slate roof, part of which had collapsed during an inspection in October 2020. The original full-height wagon bay doorway facing the yard has been blocked. To the right of this doorway is a boarded door and a small-pane window that served the former stable. At the rear of the building, a corrugated-iron hay shed obscures a winnowing doorway in the back wall. Above this doorway is a rough opening created for a shaft that allowed a portable engine to assist with threshing. Additionally, a corrugated-iron lean-to is attached to the right-hand, downhill gable end.
Inside, the building has been converted into a cow house, with the lower part of the walls rendered and concrete stalls installed. The roof features collar-beam trusses and consists of six bays.
