Description
The Barn Range at Cilwenau Uchaf is a continuous farm building constructed in 1832. It features a high-door barn on the left and a cart-house on the right. The structure is built from rubble with squared quoins and has a slate roof, timber soffits, and slated barges. There is a low plinth at the base.
On the left side, there are two high doors with cambered stone voussoired heads, along with paired planked doors and a chamfered dividing post. There are also loops between the doors and one on each side. The right side has paired cart entries with dressed stone elliptical heads and a square pier, along with a window above each cart door that rises to the eaves and a low door situated between them.
The left gable end is blank, while the right gable features a flight of stone steps leading to a boarded loft door, which has a stone voussoired cambered head. The rear of the building mirrors the front with two high doors and loops, although the right-hand door and loops are obscured by a later lean-to. There is a window to the upper left that also rises to the eaves.
A beam within the structure bears the date of 1832. The roof is supported by a collar beam, and there is a loft above the cart-house.
