Description
The Old House at Garn Farm is a two-storey building made of rubble stone, with an attached cow house that steps slightly outward on the right side, which is the downhill side. The house is whitewashed and features a corrugated iron roof with a stone chimney on the left end. The right end chimney has been removed. There is a boarded door to the right of the center, topped by a segmental arch. To the right of this door is a replaced window, with another window above it. The left side of the house has no front windows but does have replaced windows at the rear on both storeys.
The cow house has a slate roof and includes full-height cross-passage doorways next to the house, along with a lintelled doorway in the gable end, each fitted with boarded doors. A boarded door leading from the cross passage to the house indicates the original internal layout, which has since been altered with the addition of a front door. Upon entering, the front door leads into a stair hall featuring a dog-leg staircase. The room on the right has a fireplace with a timber lintel. The roof structure includes two collar-beam trusses with curved-foot principals.
