Description
The stables at Penty Park are lofted structures built from roughcast rubble stone and topped with a slate eaves roof. The formal east-facing front features three bays, with the center bay slightly projecting. Above the central door is a blind lunette, and there are blind rectangular panels over a pair of casement windows on either side. The red brick heads of the windows are exposed due to eroding render, and the building has a raised plinth.
On the left end, there is a door to the right of an added rubble-stone lean-to, which includes a cambered-headed window and door. The rear of the stables has a lean-to with a broad elliptical-arched south end entry, featuring a brick arch. There is also a rear west door to the right of center and a window to the left, both with brick heads. The rear lean-to does not extend the full length of the building, as there is a flight of slate and brick steps leading up to a loft door at the rear of the main range. The rear roof slope includes three roof-lights and a small brick chimney at the right corner.
Inside, the stables have plastered walls and ceiling, a cobbled floor, and wooden stall-dividers with chamfered newels. Originally, there were five stalls, but one divider has been removed.
