Description

This building is a two-storey stable with servants' quarters above, featuring a lean-to at the rear. The walls are made of rubble masonry with boulder foundations and timber lintels. There are five dove holes set high in the left (north) gable wall. The roof is covered with small slates and has rendered gable copings. The front elevation includes a half-dormer window, with two more dormers at the rear. The front has two door openings; the one on the right has a small square window to the left and a dormer window above, featuring a crude oak mullion for a two-light window. The rear has two gabled half-dormers, with the left one serving as the entrance to the first floor. The lean-to on the right has rubble walls and a slate roof beneath a window.

Inside, the stable is divided into two equal parts by a stone wall that reaches the eaves, which seems to be a later addition. The interior walls are coated with clay plaster and lime plaster, then limewashed. The stable on the right has a blind window or cupboard built into the right gable wall. The roof consists of four bays, supported by heavy hewn and pegged A-frame trusses with dovetailed collars. The underside of the slates is torched with horsehair plaster. The floorboards in the servants' loft are missing.
