Description

Mounton Quarry Limekiln is a large, irregularly shaped, freestanding single limekiln constructed from coarse local stone. It features working apertures on the northwest and southeast sides, with corbelled openings. The kiln faces a farm lane to the west, where it has a straight wall. To the north, there is some informal buttressing.

A ramp rises from the lane to the top of the kiln from the southwest. Near the top, there are low walls that are remnants of a hut that once had its back to the lane.

The interior void of the kiln is barrel-shaped, tapering from approximately 2.5 meters near the top to about 2 meters at the bottom.
