Description
Great Molleston Farmhouse is a two-storey building featuring a symmetrical front elevation with three windows and an additional single window bay on the left. The front is rendered and showcases prominent rusticated quoins on the original three-window block. It has a hipped slate roof with metal ridges and hip rolls, along with rebuilt chimney stacks. The window head arches are made of brick, concealed beneath the render and without decoration. The windows are twelve-pane horned sash types with exposed frames. The entrance is centrally located in the original block and features a timber porch that projects boldly, supported by two simplified Tuscan columns of wood and stucco at the front and two similar half-columns at the rear. The front door consists of five panels.
The rear elevation includes a range of four windows, three of which are twelve-pane hornless sashes, and a small-paned round-headed window located centrally on the staircase landing of the original block. There is also a large later addition of a single-storey rear porch with a hipped roof.
Inside, the farmhouse is symmetrically planned and features a well-crafted central staircase with a hardwood handrail that is swept at the landings and coiled at the foot over a curtail step. The staircase has square balusters and an open string with brackets.
