Description
Garn Limekiln No. I is a notable single limekiln constructed from roughly squared but uncoursed limestone masonry. It measures approximately 12 meters in width and about 7 meters in height. The front wall is straight with canted sides, featuring a semicircular main arch over the working area. There are two kiln working holes, each with inner semicircular arches, separated by a very thin pier of masonry. The top of the kiln has collapsed, making the interior diameter unclear. Surrounding the kiln is a small sunken forecourt with a revetted wall.
