Description
Pant-y-garn Limekiln No. I is a single limekiln constructed from squared but uncoursed limestone masonry. It measures approximately 10 meters in width and stands about 6 meters high. The front wall is straight and extends into the sloping ground on either side. A very large semicircular outer arch dominates the working area, and there are two working recesses that are roughly corbelled, with a 400 millimeter pier of masonry projecting between them. Although the top of the kiln has collapsed, the interior diameter is estimated to be about 4 meters.
