Description
Blackpool Bridge is a Grade II* listed structure primarily made of limestone, with some sandstone mixed into the masonry. The bridge features a single semicircular arch that spans approximately 16 meters. The arch is constructed with ashlar voussoirs that are about 60 centimeters deep. There is no keystone, but at the apex of the arch, there is a short pilaster that supports a raised section of coping topped with a ball. Each abutment has plain flanking pilasters, and at each end of the parapet, there is a similarly raised section with a ball. The carriageway of the bridge is notably wide, measuring about 5.5 meters between the parapets, and the approaches to the bridge rise gently towards the center.
