Description
The gate and gate-piers beside the East Lodge are the finest pair on the Cresselly Estate. They consist of square, ashlar gate-piers featuring rock-faced rubble panels and cornices adorned with crocket and rosette designs. The block pedestals rise through pyramidal caps and have polygonal bases topped with elaborate ball finials. The panelled pedestals originally displayed metal crests from Allen of Cresselly, which are now missing. There is a single, side-hung timber gate that resembles the one at the opposite end of the driveway, complete with ironwork bars and a diagonal brace that has scrolly ends, along with pierced timber panels at the bottom. The gate is flanked by low quadrant walls.
