Description
2 Castle Terrace is a terraced house built with painted stucco, featuring a slate close-eaved roof and a red brick stack at the right end. The building rises three storeys and has two bays. The top floor has hornless 9-pane sash windows, while the first floor features two large square oriel windows supported by pierced cast-iron brackets, and the ground floor has a large canted projecting shop window with an arched doorway to the right. The oriel windows have modillion cornices and full-length glazing, with casement pairs at the front and single lights on the sides. The angles of the building are roll-moulded and stopped.
The doorway is positioned to the right of the windows above and includes etched glass in the fanlight and an 8-panel door. There is a 20th-century broad plate-glass shop window made up of five panes.
The interior has not been fully inspected. The ground floor has been altered, featuring 19th-century tiles in the inner hall and a half-glazed door at the foot of the stairs. The first floor oriels have panelled reveals.
