Description

Blaenwaun Baptismal Pool is a substantial baptismal pool that has been sunk into the ground along the course of a stream. It is surrounded by tiered seating, which gives it an amphitheatre-like appearance. The structure is made of brick and concrete, which replaces or encases an earlier stone structure. The concrete-floored pool is flanked to the north by four tiers of seating arranged in arcs, and to the south by a wider six-tier curving span. Steps provide access to and from the pool on the west and east sides. Above the western entrance steps, a boulder has been incorporated into the structure and serves as a pulpit for the preacher.
